About Emily

Hi! My name is Emily and I would love to work for you. I have many skills that apply to a wide-range of activities. I hope you can find something in me that you need! -I'm smart!- My graduate studies in Holocaust and Genocide studies have taught me a plethora of academic-related skills from research to writing to education. I have taught at the college level for two years and can tutor in English, History, Social Studies, Government, Religion, and related social science disciplines. -I speak foreign languages!- I have studied French for more 12 years and German for more than 8. While I translate professionally in both of those languages, I don't consider myself bi- or tri-lingual. I am highly proficient and able to tutor in both at any level short of graduate studies. I have experience in teaching English as a second language to French speakers (of high school age) and can parlay those skills to help English speakers learn foreign languages. -I like animals!- I have owned dogs and cats my whole life. My sister worked at a horse ranch and veterinary clinic for many years and passed on her knowledge to me. I will keep your four-legged friends happy and safe during your absence. -I am a great driver!- I have been driving for 16 years and have received nary a ticket nor been in an accident. I can drive a manual and automatic transmission. -I am a people person!- I love people and have a nurturing nature. I have spent the last two years as caretaker for my mother, who is terminally ill. She needs constant care and I have learned to serve as her health aide and advocate during this time. -I love kids!- I am still learning a lot about children, but my love of learning and teaching means I really enjoy being around them. My people skills and patience lend themselves well to childcare.
