I am 57 and I have dealt with a father who had poor health for a number of years and later Dementia. My mom cared for him for quite a few years and when she could no longer care for him we decided as a family to put him in a VA facility. When he was at home I would visit, take him out to eat when my mom worked and spent time with him when she was not at home. Then when he was in the VA facility I would visit along with my mom. So I have had first hand experience seeing the effects of aging and Demintia. In grade school and high school and church ministry I would visit nursing homes and hold church services and visit the people when I could. I have been a caregiver to a friend who is now in a nursing home for almost two years. As I age my heart goes out to the elderly or seniors because we all need one another and if it is taking someone to the store or going to get groceries or just sitting and listening to someone is what I would want if I was in that circumstance. I see it as being compassionate and doing the Lord's work.
