I have provided long-term, live-in, overnight, back-up and part-time babysitting/care-giving for many families since 2007. Prior to entering graduate school full-time, I was a special education assistant teacher for 3 years for elementary/middle school which serves individuals with moderate to profound intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities. In addition to that, I have also worked for multiple years as a camp counselor at a youth and young adult summer camp located in the Baltimore area. I have also worked at a residential treatment center for children and adolescents with emotional and behavior difficulties. I thoroughly enjoy providing care for children of all ages and abilities. I am very active and child-oriented so I frequently try to engage children in arts/crafts, cooking, board games, reading, organized indoor/outdoor sports, and various activities with the children I care for. I also enjoy infusing education into the time I spend with kids (I like to do it discretely so the kids don't notice they are learning while having fun). Depending on the season and the child's abilities, I often visit museums, festivals, libraries, zoos, parks, recreational centers and other creative kid friendly places. I am infant/child and adult CPR and CPI trained and certified. I also provide special needs care and pet care. Furthermore, I am knowledgeable of American Sign Language (about 400 signs) as well as occupational therapy and speech therapy techniques/protocols as I have worked alongside and collaboratively with these disciplines. I am able to provide a professional resume upon request.

Shannon was and still is awesome with our boys and is extremely compassionate about the well being of our boys. Shannon, has a unique style of being silly and fun with the kids while still being responsible and showing genuine care for the personal and educational growth of the child. Shannon is an extremely intelligent young woman and her dedication to academics has been a wonderful role model for our children. Shannon makes a point to spend the time to create personal bonds with each of the children she works with so that when she interacts with them she remembers which child likes what colors and which child dislikes certain foods. I would highly recommend Shannon's care to anybody and everybody looking for a dedicated, passionate, intelligent and genuine caregiver.
