My son is 19 years-old, 6'1" and 200 lbs. He is usually a very cheerful, happy young man. Emotionally he's about 4-5 years old. He perseverance on the past and positive language needs to be used at all times.
When he gets frustrated, he sometimes becomes violent, punching and kicking walls, hitting and throwing furniture, hitting himself, and hitting others. He can be difficult to calm down, particularly by his family. Frequently, having another person outside of the family present can help him calm down.
We currently have a caregiver that works with him on holidays and during the week when he gets home from his program, as well as two nights a week. We are looking for someone to spend weekends and evenings with my son and his family.
Our ideal candidate is a male with experience working with developmental delays and violent behavior.
