About Zeynep

I'm a clinical psychologist working towards my Ph. D. degree at The New School. I come from a family of artists and educators in Turkey, and it was very natural for me to start working at a young age as a caregiver, mentor, and tutor. Now, as a professional, I have years of clinical and teaching experience, and I take pride in seeing the growth in my understanding of caregiving relationships. My work is always centered around issues of social justice and diversity inclusion. I have extensive training and experience in early childhood development and I'm a mother myself, working with seniors was not something I was involved in professionally until I completed a year-long externship at the Brooklyn VA, doing psychotherapy with elderly vets. This experience taught me a lot about their experiences around aging and loss/grief, as well as difficulties in accepting and receiving care. I feel like there's a lot of room for me to grow as a clinician and a lot to provide as a senior companion.
