Hello! My name is Taylor and I am a senior at UMD studying psychology. Due to major requirements, I have also taken multiple courses in child psychology. I have worked in childcare for over the past decade. In 2008, I began volunteering at my home church during vacation bible school and worked as a youth leader until 2015. My professional child care career began in 2016. I have taken care of children ages 6 months to 15 years old during these past 4 years. My various jobs have required before and after school child prep (doing hair, baths, breakfast, etc), transportation to school and activities, house duties (cleaning, laundry, etc) and responsibility for making meals. She was so great during the pandemic, balancing watching a 3 year old and helping a 5 year old stay on task at virtual Kindergarten (no easy task) and keeping the 7 year old well stocked on snacks and activities when not at school. Plus making meals, taking kids on outdoor adventures, playing games, reading, etc. She was more calm and patient with the kids than I could hope to be; she always went above and beyond, and made sure the house was cleaned up before she left, and even brought me snacks/lunch when I was working from home. A natural caregiver, we miss her so much - a true lifesaver during a very unusual time.
