My childcare experience started in England, where I helped a household with two children 7 and 11 while their parents were away on business (I took care of all the housework and children's routine). Here in Florida, I worked as an assistant teacher for ages 1 - 5, in one of these experiences I worked with children with special needs, in addition to working with them, I also have a daughter with special needs, which makes this scenario totally comfortable and easy to manage. I have a full 40 hours of DCF Training. I worked alongside Shirley for several months in a special needs school where she acted as an assistant teacher for my client's Pre-K class. Shirley consistently showed up on time or early for her shifts, displayed thorough communication skills, and maintained a positive attitude even on challenging days. It was a pleasure to work in the same room together, as she was very attentive to the children and provided a welcoming atmosphere for us therapists as well. Because Shirley was patient, kind, and experienced with special needs children, I always felt that my client would be safe in her care.
