HI! My name is Shay, I was raised by my grandparents and this last year both of them had strokes within 2 weeks of each other. My mother had a stroke in the left side of her body, and also broke her right knee. She was in a wheel chair and couldn't use either legs. My father had a stroke on the right side of his body, and suffered memory loss as well. I quit my full-time job to become a full-time in home aid. I had to enroll them in rehabilitation centers, manage appointments, help with PT, OT, and their new diet. I also had to remodel their house due to their physical restrictions. I understand how time consuming and mentally draining it can be to have all that pressure on you alone. Even with help, it is very overwhelming. I recently moved to the Springs, got married, and am now a CNA working on becoming a nurse.
