Shannon came to us with excellent references from other families of children with and without special needs. At the interview where she met my son (who is relatively non-verbal) he hugged her and said, "Bye Bye. See you tomorrow." We knew she was a keeper. Shannon was responsible for taking care of our 4 year old son, who is autistic every day after school, for the duration of his 6 week Summer program. She got him off the bus, helped him with snack, engaged him in activities at & above his level, and played with him appropriately. She also serves as the liaison between myself and his preschool. Often, she'd take what the school was working with him on (for example, saying "yes") and find ways to continue to teach and encourage those behaviors at home. She centered her care around my son's interest and helped to bring out the best in him. We absolutely love her, trust her completely and hope she'll come back to us next Summer!
