I have worked with students with dyslexia, who have short attention spans, who cannot write legibly, who do not have good phonemic awareness, who do not have good phonics skills, who do not have an adequate sight vocabulary for their grade level, who need vocabulary development. For older students, I also include reading comprehension. I start with an assessment of the child's skill levels. I incorporate visual, auditory and kinesthetic modalities to teach what the child needs. I try to include a great deal of positive reinforcement and use games to reinforce learning.
