About Sandra

My teaching career began in a small community, Placentia, California. There I taught 1st and 2nd grades. My weekend job as a Disneyland tour guide introduced me to people from all over the world which created a desire to travel. I was hired by the Department of Defense and given an assignment on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa where I taught 1st grade. A young air force captain asked me to marry him and return to his home town, Denver, CO. When my two sons were in high school, I returned to teaching and worked as a kindergarten and first grade teacher for the next 25 years in the Cherry Creek Schools. During that time I pursued a graduate degree at UCD and became trained in Reading Recovery. I am one of those types of teachers who is able to get kids excited about learning, to feel successful and good about themselves. When we develop a rapport with each other, my students seem to want to please and do well.
