About Samantha

Hi there! I am 23 years old, and I am a second-year philosophy graduate student at UW. In my free time, I enjoy drawing and painting, reading science fiction and/or fantasy books, and hanging out with my cat! I would describe myself as responsible, organized, patient, compassionate, and creative. I absolutely love working with kids! Most of my experience comes from my 3 years of teaching Philosophy for Children classes to kids ages 6-14. In these classes, I use children's literature, art, thought experiments, games, and other activities to facilitate discussion around ethics and social justice. In addition to teaching Philosophy for Children classes, I also worked as a K-12 substitute teacher last summer. I do not have experience nannying professionally. However, I have had many opportunities caring for my niece (who is now 6) since she was a newborn, and my nephew (who is now 16) since he was still in grade school.
