While I have never formally cared for seniors before, when I was in high school my grandparents came to live with me and my family. Being the oldest at home it was my responsibility to help with shopping, medication, cleaning and anything they needed really. I will admit, when I first started helping, it felt like babysitting and I didn't care for it. However, the longer they lived with us the more I came to love helping my grandparents and having the opportunity to get to know them as friends and hear all their stories and the many lives they lived. It was a wonderful gift, that most grand kids don't have, to spend their last few years together and getting to be there for them however they needed.
