About Raelyn

I started working with kids when I was 9 years old. My dad worked two hours away, and my mom was putting herself back through school. It became my job to take care of my siblings. From then on I realized that it was enjoyable so I began working for other families around 13 and further into the present. I worked as a teen leader for a nonprofit called Girls Rock Columbia. This meant that I had to make elementary age to middle school age kids feel safe and wanted in what was a new environment. I have felt like how they were feeling so I faced this challenge with all the empathy in my being. I also waited tables for a short amount of time, and while my co-workers hated taking the kids table I was overjoyed. Firstly because they can hear and sense the rejection from people who don't want work them. Secondly it's a life changing experience to see how someone younger than you sees the world, knowing that when I was that age I saw the world similarly in my own way.
