About Rachel

Hi, there. My name is Rachel R. I am a recent college graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi (just this past May), where I earned both a BFA in dance performance and choreography and a BA in English literature, as well as a minor in Latin. As you may have guessed, I love to dance and read, but I also have a fondness for piano (which I play and have taught lessons for) and musical theatre. I have plenty of experience working with kids. I baby-sat in my hometown pretty regularly, for both my relatives and even my high school teachers. I am also the second of three girls in my family, and my older sister and I often consider ourselves responsible for "raising" my younger sister; both of our parents worked full time, and it was our responsibility to have our sister dressed and ready for school and all of her activities each day. We were also largely responsible for entertaining her--something we excelled at, as I'm sure you can imagine. While I was a college student, I got to interact with kids on a surprisingly frequent basis, despite my heavy course load: I did some freelance choreography for a local dance studio; I taught dance classes to high school kids twice a year, as part of our college's "High School Dance Day"; I co-directed a summer musical theatre camp for kids; and I served as a part-time summer nanny for a Hattiesburg, MS family with four children in 2006 (three girls, two of them twins, and one boy, ranging in age from 8 to 14). I feel very comfortable taking care of kids--not just "baby-sitting" them but also stimulating their minds. I currently have complete availability, and I also have a valid driver's license.
