About Rachel

Hi! I studied music and dance growing up, and taught those subjects professionally during high school. I graduated in 2007 from Wesleyan University and since then I've been tutoring in a number of subjects, particularly those related to English, Math and Music. I am happy to help with vocabulary, reading, essay-writing, standardized test preparation, etc. I am qualified to teach Math up to 8th grade. I also teach flute and tap dancing (yes, tap dancing!) as well as music history and beginning music theory. I believe strongly that tutoring should be fun and should engage a student's strengths and his or her creativity. In high school, I struggled in Geometry and had a wonderful tutor who never made me feel silly for taking a little bit longer to work out a problem or concept. My goal is to be as helpful to my students as my tutor was for me. I look forward to hearing from you!
