It is hard humbling work and I understand I am but a blip in these people's lives but honestly, it's more gratifying for me than any job out there. This feels right and I want to help a family that wishes they didn't have to hire a caregiver. if only they had more time or energy. But with their trust, I want to make their lives easier, more importantly sustaining habits that would otherwise be lost with time. There are many hours in the day and with someone ailing with age or illness, watching TV and eating is all they do forever. With permission, I can help maintain normalcy, a walk around the neighborhood can do wonders for mental health and its such a simple thing. Even something as simple as taking up a book, watching documentaries, playing cards or sneaking ensure into their ice cream is a pleasure.
