Very upsetting experience. After a fairly detailed phone interview and then in-person which became 2 hours when Michelle got involved with playing with my babies (which went too long for me & definitely wondered if I was being "sold") she seemed like a peer - similar background, age, professional, etc., which is part of her selling point. She's a mom that's raised her 3 kids & comes at the job as a "household manager" not just a babysitter. She then pursued me afterward with follow-up emails like you would for a professional job to try to seal the deal "seems like we're a good fit", etc. After booking her on Saturday (but trying to reach her since early Friday) for 2-3 days of a try-out starting at 7/7:30 Monday morning (her choice: "sooner, the better"), I got a text at 9:47 p.m. Sunday night telling me she had had second thoughts and implying she wasn't going to show the next morning- a morning I was counting on having some relief from breastfed infant twins & 3 yr. old, flaked help the day before and no spousal support from husband working 24/7 for the last 3 months on elections. I texted back telling her I was counting on her for the next day with never a reply since. Is this really a mom who understands what it's like? Then she'd show up and give a hand as she asked to and committed - and if she didn't want the long term job after that communicate it wasn't a good fit. But you don't leave someone in a lurch Sunday night at almost 10 p.m. for 1st thing the next morning unless it's an emergency - like hospital. Really, who does that sort of thing?
