Hello! My name is Melissa, I'm a current senior at Boston University studying Education and Human Development with a specialization in child and adolescent mental health. Some of my favorite memories have been using my skills in creativity and flexibility alongside the kids I'm working with to create new worlds to explore or games to play. For example, 12 3rd grade girls competing in a "slow-motion" race is nothing short of priceless (last person to the finish line wins, and runners must speak in slow motion!). Being a Sunday School small group leader for 3 years, a babysitter for 8 years, nanny for 2 summers, and hundreds of hours in summer camp leadership has meant hundreds and hundreds of hours of seeing kids grow while being silly and making memories. My experience as a college resident assistant for a year and a half and a program assistant for a pre-college program has taught me to handle challenging choices well, while enforcing rules and helping to mediate conflict.
