About Melanie

I have 20+ years' experience caring for children of all ages, including 2. 5 years caring for children with severe emotional trauma, developmental delays, variations of neurodivergence, and physical disabilities in a domestic violence shelter as a supportive counselor/advocate. In addition to childcare, I'm able to provide pet care, transportation, meal prep, light housekeeping, overnight care, and tutoring in ELA, math, and Acting/Drama. I feel that I am a unique fit for most families in that I have certain qualities and skills other caregivers do not. I have my MFA in acting, and as such l'm able to limit screens by integrating improvisational play into what we do together, as it builds effective communication and problem-solving skills, creativity, and self-esteem, while also developing the kind of trusting relationship that allows a child to view me as a kind of extended family member or social guidance equivalent. And we have a blast together!
