About Mary

After my years at the University of Kansas, I traveled to India and Poland where I taught english to children and adults alike. In Poland I formed my own program at an ecological university and ran it for 6 weeks of the summer. Since my return to the United States, I have worked for University Tutors of Seattle Schools, taught 5th grade in Kansas, 2nd grade in Colorado and coming up on 1st grade this coming fall. My recent experiences have only further developed my love for teaching. My approach to teaching is centered around what the learner can do, what the learner can do with help from me or others, to what the learner can't do yet, but will attempt to do. I have a very experiential and pragramatic form of teaching where the learner experiences things for themselves and I provide proper scaffolding to clarify understandings.
