Madeline worked for us 2 days a week from August to March. While she did a great job on the days she was here, she had an attendance rate of 60%. I heard every excuse under the sun. Despite that, we were very generous with her in terms of treats, gifts, long paid lunch breaks, and increasing her hours (for the majority of the months she worked for us, she did not have any other job or schooling on the other days she was not with us). We also offered her the opportunity to make up her missed days and gave her guaranteed pay and paid holidays. A little over two weeks ago, right before she was supposed to come to work, she texted me that she thought she broke her arm and was going to the ER. Long story short, she gave me contradictory information and when I asked her to get a doctor's note clearing her to pick up our toddler whenever she was able to return to work, she ghosted us. I now know with certainty that she did not sustain any kind of injury, and the whole story was a lie. I am also disturbed that I had explicitly told her in writing and in person that I was not comfortable with her kissing my son, and I happened to see on the monitor one day that she was kissing his feet. When I wrote her a note about my wishes as a friendly reminder, she did not acknowledge it. I am shocked and upset that I allowed such a dishonest person into my home and family.
