About Mary Luz

I graduated from Southern CT State University in May 2021 with dual certification in Special Education (K-8) and Elementary Education (1-6). I am currently pursuing a masters degree in Special Education. I am going into my second year as a special education teacher. Last year I taught as an Inclusion teacher (pushed-in services) in a 5th grade classroom. All of my students had IEPs and were identified as English Language Learners. During this position, I received phonics training through a literacy coach. I've done summer school for 2 years. This upcoming school year I will be a 7th grade special education teacher. My teaching methods align with evidence based strategies and are data driven. I follow the Gradual Release of Responsibility model with all tutoring lessons. With tutoring sessions, I like to provide parents with consistent progress monitoring data.
