I was on the hiring committee that brought Lidia to her role as Lunch and Recess Supervisor at Yu Ming Charter School, and served as her supervisor during her employment. She was an outstanding employee - reliable, responsible, and hard-working. Most importantly, she always maintained a positive attitude and nurtured and cared for all Yu Ming students as though they were her own. She took initiative in reinforcing school values by posting and implementing lunch and recess rules. As a result of her consistent efforts, I saw many positive changes. For example, I observed most and sometimes all students saying both please and thank you when requesting and receiving lunch after Lidia had worked with them (in contrast to a small handful of students using this language prior to that). I also observed students behaving much more calmly and happily at recess time after she rezoned the playground and advocated for the purchase of more recess equipment. I would not hesitate to hire Lidia again, not only for her hard work and dedication but also for her unique way of bringing sunshine into any space she enters a truly happy and compassionate person, eager to spread happiness to others.
