I am an only child, only grandchild and only great-grandchild. My parents have no siblings and my grandparents' siblings had no children. My parents and I have been responsible for at least one elderly family member in a nursing facility since 2005. All that is to say that though I haven't worked in the elder care field, I have a lot of experience spending time with and providing basic care and companionship to older folks. I've even been told on numerous occasions that I missed my calling as a nurse or elder care specialist.
