I have 10 years under my belt with tutoring post-college. I really like to break down the child's understanding of foundational mathematics which are imperative for their future success. If you are missing pieces, you will get more lost as the math builds on itself. I really like to bring a positive presence to the student and allow them to explore their understanding in order to grasp the concept; after this happens, I intervene with questions leading them to complete the problem themselves. I will admit when I have to look up something because I do not want to ever have to re-teach something due to my mistakes. These happen and I'm very candid about my imperfect delivery at times.
