I am a current 5th-grade special education teacher open to tutoring students with special needs. I have 4 years of classroom experience. I have worked with students who have Down Syndrome, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, ADHD - inattentive, hyperactive, and combination types, emotional disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and autism. My approach is kind, gentle, interactive, and structured. I am trained in Really Great Reading and Orton-Gillingham. I am open to tutoring for academic subject areas as well as social skills. I was also a caretaker for 2 years for someone with a spinal cord injury which resulted in them having paraplegia. I am comfortable transitioning someone up to 80 lbs to and from their wheelchair and bathing, changing a catheter, and clothes. If you need caregiving support, my rate is $35 an hour.
