About Kathy

I like working with kids because they bring something out in me. Some kind of gift, to be able to see them as their true selves. To see them as what they can be or overcome. They give me a purpose, when they succeed, I succeed. They make me feel special if that makes since. I'm drawn to their struggles and their gifts. They give me this sense to advocate for them. I love the innocence and they need so little to be happy. I just like them to feel special, especially the ones with obstacles. I started working with kids when I graduated from college. I started working as a para pro for a special needs classroom in 2012. I continued working until I got my masters in Special education and tried out co teach for all elementary grades. I took a small break when my third child was born. I went back to teach access classrooms in high school. I did feel so much better working with high school students. They have unique obstacles and I got a lot closer with families.
