About Kathy

I received my degree from North Carolina Central University in Political Science/Criminal Justice in 1984. I retired from North Carolina Dept. Of Public Safety as a Chief Probation/Parole Officer in 2015 with 30 years of service. I became the caregiver for my grandmother in 2006 and assisted her with daily activities, errands, appointments and house keeping until she passed away. Upon my retirement I sat with an Alzheimer's patient 3x a week during their dialysis treatment until my mother was diagnosed with cancer in August 2016 and I became her caregiver. This included daily activities such as bathing/dressing, tube feedings, distributing medications, dressing wounds, transporting to appointments to Duke and local doctors for radiation and chemotherapy. I did her laundry and housekeeping as well. I also had to complete these tasks with my father as well. He had sun downers along with his cancer. I assisted hospice staff with their treatment in their final chapters.
