I was the primary caregiver for my husband for 18 yrs/7brain & 2 spine surgeries. I also took care of my father with ALS and mother with COPD. I programmed feeding tube pumps, gave & monitored feeds, gave meds orally/rectally/via feeding tube, trache care, gastric drain care, stoma care, catheterization (in and out cath), preparied every level of dysphagia diet & thickened liquid, maintained detailed logs & records such as: blood pressure, temp, 02 saturation, heart rate, urine input and output, sleep, mood, doctor/l info, medication schedule, diagnoses, logs of emergency, personal, & medical contacts, & kept up-to-date medical records. Also, gave baths, assisted with shaving, oral care, dressing, grooming, skin/wound care, transfers, gait belts, drove to/attended medical appts, advocated, guided PT/SLP/OT at home exercises, provided entertainment/companionship, gave injections, nebulizers care, provided house/pet/laundry/meal prep, diapered, gave enemas, & more.
