About Katey

I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I have a BA in Social Work from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, with a Music Minor. I have cared for children most of my life; throughout elementary, Junior High, HS and even college. It seems I was always the one people turned to for their child care! A couple years ago, I moved to be with my husband in the Indy area. I have had an on and off nanny job for the past several years, working for a family with their own on-the-road business. I also worked as a lead infant teacher in a classroom setting. This meant caring for 4 babies all to myself! I love every minute I get to spend with all 14 of my nieces and nephews. I feel that children are such a blessing and I really do enjoy being a part of their life. I've been told many times that I am a natural when it comes to children. First and foremost, I believe in being a good role model. It's true what they say... kids pick up on everything! I do believe it's important to discipline when necessary; being consistent and following through are SO important for the child. I'm definitely a go-getter; I love to be on my feet and in action! I enjoy reading, playing games, taking the kids to the park or the library, etc. On a side note, I love to laugh! I feel my sense-of-humor is a big reason as to why I love children. Their sometimes random and very innocent funny comments always keep me grounded and make me realize why I do what I do! **Just so families are aware, my husband and I are moving to Indy once I get a job. He works on the NW side. (So, don't worry! I will be close and readily available!)
