About Karlene

I'd describe myself as determined, reliable, and empathetic. I like working with kids because they're curious, adventurous, and creative. I enjoy their energy and the way they view the world. I'm looking for a job that is fulfilling. For me, that means connecting with others and building a sense of community. It means helping and serving others through mutual respect, compassion, and kindness. I started working with kids when I was 16. I have worked at the YMCA in childcare and for several summers I worked at overnight and daytime soccer camps, counseling and coaching large groups of children. In my spare time, I like to be outdoors--my favorite things do to are hiking and backpacking, playing soccer, spending time with my friends and family, and reading. I am interested in pursuing a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. I hope to help others navigate their experiences and guide them through life. My skills include enthusiasm, patience and strong communication.
