About Kaitlin

I officially started working with kids when I was 17 where I got a job as a swim instructor that I held for about two years, but I've been babysitting since I was about 13. Some skills I have include getting kids to cooperate with me, de-escalating situations where a child is in emotional crisis, and using clear communication and boundaries with the kids I work with. I love spazzy kids. I was a super spazzy kid and I'm very good at matching a kid's energy while also maintaining the role of an authority figure. It's important that kids see me as someone they listen to and respect, but also that they're having fun. I grew up often feeling misunderstood or even disliked by my authority figures. It's always important to me that children feel respected by me as an authority figure, and I like being that person for others because I didn't have one. I also like working with kids because I'm a pretty goofy person and I feel like I can be more myself around them.
