During the past 3. 5 years, I have worked as a personal care assistant for a 25-year-old man who has a traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, is wheelchair-bound, and is epileptic. I help him in all aspects of his life from showering and brushing his teeth, to feeding him via g-tube, and making sure he is safe and happy. I take him to speech/physical/occupational therapy sessions, help him walk on his walker, swim in the local pool, and sing songs to him. After I graduated from college in 2019, I worked at a school for autistic children that uses Applied Behavioral Analysis. I was an instructor in a behavioral unit for students aged 15-21 who have autism, as well as other mental, emotional, and behavioral conditions. I worked both one-on-one, and with groups of students, on a variety of tasks including reading, math, writing, and activities of daily living. It brings me so much joy to watch the people I've worked with grow and develop. I look forward to hearing from you!
