After 30 years as a Packaging Engineer, I started a second career as a Math Fellow for the Denver School System (all virtual). After returning to my home in NJ, I have been a volunteer as a virtual math tutor, teaching middle school math to four amazing kids in NYC, Montclair, NJ and Hartford, Connecticut. Many of my students have ADHD and other learning challenges. Since both of my children had ADHD and I watched how my wife, a PhD School Psychologist managed their IEP (Individualized Learning Plan) with the Child Study Teams in our local school system, I am keenly aware how critical it is to advocate for proper education of children with ADHD. My son graduated from Emory College (MBA) and my daughter is a Nursing Supervisor. Many kids with ADHD become high performers like my kids. Teaching children with ADHD requires patience and the ability to help these children focus, stay organized and most importantly, keep them motivated with positive reinforcement.
