About Joan

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's degree in social work. I have worked in the field of mental health and have been a school social worker in elementary and middle schools. I was laid off from my last social work job in 2008 and wasn't able to find another position. I retrained to be a certified medical assistant and worked in that field for one year as an assistant to a internist. At that time my parents became ill I ended up spending most of my time helping them. I am grateful for the time I was able to spend with them in the end. I have two children and I have been a full time homemaker and mother off and on for 22 years. My daughter is in college and is 22 and my son is 15. My son has very high functioning Autism so I would like a job where I can work during the day and be home after school. I can be somewhat flexible with hours though since he is able to be quite independent within certain parameters. I do have a car and I am willing to run errands, take a loved one to the doctor, out for lunch or whatever would be helpful. I have been married to my college sweetheart for 32 years and have lived in our home in Carol Stream for 23 years.
