Caregiving in the golden years It's some thing I've come to enjoy later in my career. I was a pediatric oncology nurse for 20 years. When I left the hospital setting, I worked for a family for almost 6 years caring for their needs in the house. I was responsible for taking them to appointments, explaining medical procedures and testing, keeping them safe, making sure they took their medicines and had warm meals every day. It was so very enjoyable and I do feel my presence was a comfort to the family. At this point, I am looking for a job working two or three days a week, 8 to 10 hours a day as a caregiver. I am allergic to cats.
