About Jane

Hi! I am an experienced tutor in a variety of subjects, including Reading, Writing, Italian. Math and ESL at all levels. I hold a B. F. A. degree from Syracuse University. My mission is to help students by making the experience of learning and comprehension enjoyable. I love to work with children and I find that they relate well to me. I have a great enthusiasm for education. There is nothing more exciting than exploring the process of watching a student "get it." I have worked with students ranging from elementary school to adults. I worked in the Public Schools as a Permanent Substitute K-6. I worked at the Middle School as a Teacher's Aide in Language Arts, both reading and writing. I taught Math at the high school level in Shelton and Bridgeport. I am a regular substitute at the Middle School and High School. I recently tutored Italian to high school students in Norwalk and at the Norwalk Community College level. I bring experience, maturity and a sense of fun to my students. I find innovative and stimulating techniques to enhance my lessons. I am certified to teach English to speakers of other languages, so I am available as an ESL-ESOL tutor as well. I teach English as a Second Language at the Adult Education of Stamford, CT. I empathize with the emotional frustration of learning a foreign language and I bring warmth and compassion to this position as well.
