Although I have not taught professionally, I have great experience tutoring my friends' and relatives' children, along with my own. I determine how a student learns best to find a learning style that works for them. I had students who, though acing their tests, they were getting D's. Why? They suffered from a bad case of disorganization. Assignments were forgotten or left to the last possible moment, or even when completed, they were not turned in. We just needed to devise the right system to work for them. I help students make sense of the material they're covering, helping them understand why the material will be important in their lives. Not recognizing the applicability of the material is one main reason students don't engage fully and learn best. I make learning enjoyable. The less studying feels like a chore, the better the learning success. I help kids meet their potential in English, Spanish, American Sign Language, math, and science and to enjoy the process.
