About Iris

As a literacy educator I am passionate about providing engaging and differentiated instruction to students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. I collaborate with colleagues and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic and social growth. I have a master's degree in literacy from SUNY New Paltz and over 5 years of experience as a second grade and 1st grade teacher. There, I designed and implemented curriculum-based activities and delivered appropriate reading materials that improved students' reading comprehension and fluency. I also demonstrated public speaking and leadership skills by presenting at staff meetings, leading professional development workshops, and mentoring new teachers.
