I have years of experience assisting in life skills classrooms, teaching lesson plans, modifying activities to suit individuals, finding coping methods for behaviors, experienced with lifting immobile children up to 140 pounds, changing diapers for all ages, feeding and providing good hygiene, can cook appropriate meals, as well as clean up after the child. I know basic ASL. I can provide Insulin shots if necessary. I can also assist with homework, household chores and other tasks the child should complete regardless of disability. I can provide references upon employment. I worked in the special education classroom throughout high school and have an understanding of dyslexia, cerebral palsy, obesity, OCD, ADD, ADHD, bipolar, multiple personality disorder, esp. autism, Asperger's, and Down Syndrome. Previously a live-in caregiver for a wonderful 14-year-old boy that could not walk, talk or participate in daily activities without assistance. Some experience with G-tube and trachea, but may need a brief walk-through. I have also held a part-time job getting a young man with non-verbal autism off of the bus after school, reading his school log, changing his diaper, preparing dinner, engaging him in activities, cleaning up after him, bathing him, and keeping chart of bowel movements and temperament. Feel free to message me anytime with questions. Available either full or part-time; open availability.
