I just retired from teaching in Indiana for 27 years. I have taught first through fifth grade with most of my teaching in second and fifth. I have also tutored for as long as I have taught. I was recently told by a family how much confidence their daughter has gained through tutoring. She asked to continue in the summer before she enters middle school. My favorite part of this is seeing that self-confidence grow. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to work one on one or in small groups. I can tell almost immediately if the student is confused or having difficulty. Tutoring makes for fun and intimate learning which enables the student to retain better.
