Summary: turned up sick, didn't try, ignored the rules, gave us all COVID. After a promising interview we decided to hire Gabriela, hoping her 'love of children' and 'willingness' to learn would make up for her inexperience. On her first day, Gabriela arrived unwell, but wearing a mask. We reviewed the rules as laid out in her contract including no cell phones any time other than during lunch break. While my child was asleep she hid in the bathroom 3 times to go on her phone, took her phone out and her mask off in front of us, then took her phone in to the nursery when my son woke up, removing her mask to use it. Taking her mask off and using her phone in the nursery we're both causes for immediate termination.
