Fetihya worked for our family for over six years. She was originally hired part time to care for my aunt but eventually came on full time when my aunt’s needs required 24 hour care. She stayed with us until my aunt came to live with me in Florida. She trained me on how to take care of my aunt the way she did so that the transition would be as smooth as possible. She even drove in the ambulance transport to ensure the long journey was successful and my aunt felt safe. We would not have been able to allow my aunt to stay at home, as was her wish, for as long as she did, had it not been for Fetihya. She wasn’t just a nurse’s aide, she was family. Not only did she take care of her physical needs, she cared for her emotional needs which was really important when my aunt started having dementia. No celebratory event was ever missed…with balloons, decorations, cake and presents! My aunt said Fetihya was an excellent care giver, she really knew how to take care of people, she was extremely strong, she helped her when she was afraid and worked with her when she became upset…she trusted her completely. I was the family liaison living in Florida and Fetihya kept me informed on everything. She is the most trustworthy person I have ever met. Besides the normal routines required of aides (meals, bathing, laundry, etc.) she made sure my aunt got all the medical attention she required and attended all of her appointments. She did exercises with her to help her keep her strength and mobility as long as possible. She helped her with her paperwork, paying bills, etc. she is a meticulous house keeper. She was like a loving daughter and treated my aunt like her mother. We were blessed with good fortune when Fetihya came into our life and I would highly recommend her for any position she felt herself capable of doing.
