Mrs Ethel was hired to watch our daughter a few weeks after she was born and was a great help to my husband and I. Mrs. Ethel worked for us on and off for 9 months and we are forever grateful but she started to become very unreliable and would call us last minute and would not be able to come to work leaving me with calling out of my job on multiple occasions and no clear guidance when she could return. Mrs Ethel would call me while working on my job about last minute vacation trips and while some other things occurred that were out of her control it became a pattern and she also wanted to be relieved and not work past 2 or 3pm. Given this and the constant issues with multiple call outs and stating she was sick but still coming to work I would not recommend Mrs Ethel to be your first option because you may end up in a challenging position like we were. Ultimately my husband decided to put our daughter in daycare to eliminate the issues that she had that was starting to hinder my job performance and affect our schedule. On multiple occasions I had no clue when she was returning to work or when she was staying and she only came 3 times a week. On several occasions she made it known she wanted to retire and I believe whenever she didn’t want to work she would start making up excuse to leave early. While she was appreciated she wasn’t upfront about a lot of things towards the end of her time with our family and her omitted major information resulted in me having to communicate with my job about her instability. I am thankful I work for the federal government and have been in the system for a while because I am not sure if any other job would have supported me given how things started to play out please be careful.
