For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be both a doctor and a teacher. As a child, I remember spending countless hours teaching stuffed-animal students, while also sporting a blue and white stethoscope. When I first came to Pittsburgh, I wasn't entirely sure how to establish myself in both those roles. Then fate intervened and I had the opportunity of a lifetime. I happened upon Camp Summit, a sleep-away camp for children and adults with all types of disabilities. I have since worked both in-home and in-center providing neuro-developmental therapy and behavior management support. This coming fall I will begin working to earn my Masters in Behavioral Psychology (BCBA). Ultimately, I am looking forward to a career where I will be able to educate individuals with special needs to become social and medical advocates for themselves by using encouraging therapies and socialization techniques.
