About Dvonna

I hired Dvonna to be my three-year-old son‘s respite worker. ( which is a paid babysitter through the state for children with disabilities). I would just like to start off with the positives. Dvonna is a great person. Very kind and respectful. She is very reliable and always shows up on time. She would come in the morning and help me get my son ready for school make his breakfast and pack his lunch. We did this five days a week for about a month. she was very helpful in the mornings. During the month of working with her I took notice that she has a hard time connecting with my son. Her personality was very flat towards my child & I think he picked up on it. I only left my son alone with her one day for about an hour. As their first time my son was crying and she had to contact me to ask what should she do. I told her to grab some toys a play with him. Just in my opinion if you work with kids that would be my first go to. I was a little concerned that I had to tell her this. However, I kept working with her, hoping things will warm up with my son towards her. It just did not happen. Dvonna did help with house cleaning work as well and did a good job with that. Though I had to let her go because I had told her in the beginning I eventually would need weekend help occasionally. When I tried to move into that, she was not willing to do so. I wish she could of been more upfront about not being available on the weekends because it’s a process to become a respite worker, 2 months for her to get fingerprinted and do cpr classes required by the state. It got to the point I felt like I was working around her schedule. I was totally flexible when she would want to leave earlier than scheduled. The flexibility went one way though and that’s what I am disappointed with. I feel that it’s important to note that if you have a child you have to be firm with boundaries because they are constantly getting into things & when they have a tantrum Dvonna was a very hesitant to want to correct my son in fear of making him upset. This post is not to harm but to give my honest review of my experience with her.
