About Dessie

I have spent the last six years as a nanny and/or tutor for children. I have experience with children as young as newborns and as old as high school students. As a former Psychology major with an interest in Developmental Psychology, I spent my four years of college researching and learning about how children grow and mature into adulthood. During this time, I also worked with children outside of the classroom using a variety of nannying/tutoring positions to put myself through college. Additionally, as a master's student at Vanderbilt University in Community Development and Action I worked for two years as a tutor assisting fourth grade students who needed intervention in math. Outside of school, I was able to help pay for my education with various part-time nannying positions and providing transportation for children to and from school. I am currently a doctoral student at Michigan State University where I am pursuing my PhD in Ecological-Community Psychology.
