I worked at Johns Hopkins University / Applied Physics Laboratory developing science instruments for NASA spacecraft. My work included development of high-energy particle detectors for Voyagers I&II, Galileo, Ulysses, and AMPTE and I led the engineering teams in developing optical instrumentation for TIMED and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Since retirement, I have tutored many students in physics and math. I adapt my teaching techniques to the student and try to identify the problem areas. I emphasize understanding rather than memorization. I tutor Physics, HS math, statistics, calculus. I like to do my tutoring sessions in person. If necessary I can also teach remotely by computer. My usual charge is $25-$30 per session. I charge by the session and not by hour, so the student doesn't have to worry about the clock. I can usually stay as long as needed. Also included in the price is homework help by email between sessions. Just send me the problem and I'll respond as soon as I can.
