About Denise

For 17 years, I cared for hundreds of newborns and their loved ones in the NICU setting as a registered nurse. Ages ranged from newborn to 4/5 months old in various stages of health, illness, and recovery. At times, mainly upon family request, we were assigned as primary caregivers for the duration of a baby's stay in hospital. One memorable baby was a heart warrior who was with us in the IWK hospital for upwards to six months pre and post open heart surgery. I obviously didn't care for these children at home but while they were in the hospital, we made the experience for them and their families as close to a home experience as we could. The medical conditions I have cared for extend into emergent situations like high risk deliveries, to one on one bedside care with extremely ill, vulnerable premies. I adore babies, children, and families. Helping newborns and their families thrive is the reason I did what I did for as many years that I did.
